Returned from Sioux City in one piece after a swank night in the Courtyard Inn. It wasn’t bad at all. Since I did not have my own transportation, and only one night, I did not get to see much of the city, but what I saw, I liked. Last night after a dinner with my… Continue reading July 25, 2023

Traveling to Sioux City for work today – really don’t have a lot to say about that other than that it’ll be probably the last or second to last large Iowa city for me to visit (Mason City being the other one). But I won’t be there long enough nor free enough to really look… Continue reading July 24, 2023

“Oppenheimer” lives up to the hype. Go see it. It’s an important story to know, and the direction, acting, and producing are top notch. It’s especially nice to know that even in these days of nonstop superhero movies, we can still get the occasional epic historical nonfiction film. Someone I spoke with this weekend suggested… Continue reading July 23, 2023

Going to see “Oppenheimer” tonight! Spent a little quality time doing maintenance on one of my two bicycles, Redemption (yes, I name my vehicles, it’s silly, I know). Although I’m a regular rider, I realized on my trip to the bike shop how rusty you can get about things you don’t do all the time,… Continue reading July 22, 2023

Got a couple stay late days coming up at work, one involving an overnight in Sioux City. I go where I’m sent. This weekend, I’m going to see “Oppenheimer” at Flix Brewhouse with Lars and Jenn, something I have been looking forward to for many months now. No, I’m not seeing “Barbie”, at least not… Continue reading July 21, 2023

Got a little distracted there by my first anniversary and our resultant trip that I forgot about blogging. Sorry about that. But we’re back and in the routine again. We went to Mackinac Island, Michigan, where we saw some very blue water, a delightful island to bike around, MANY tourists, and some yummy food (and… Continue reading July 17, 2023

I once again have a phone – I dropped my old phone the other day, and replaced it. I’ve been working on “right-sizing” my screen use over the last few months to recognize time with a PC or a phone as just something to use when it is useful and not waste time scrolling through… Continue reading June 29, 2023

OK, “Carmen” has succeeded in turning me into a fan of opera. The performance we saw at the Des Moines Metro Opera was nothing short of outstanding. I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without ever seeing an opera in person. It won’t be the last time, for sure.

I’m going to an opera tonight for the very first time! I’m not sure what else to say about that, but I’m excited. I’m also excited that my replacement phone is coming today. It couldn’t happen soon enough, quite frankly. (I broke the screen on my old phone.) And we have our wedding anniversary plans… Continue reading June 27, 2023

Been taking more steps to fight my allergies lately, but it’s at odds with my desire to be outside. Outside is where the pollen is, but it’s also where my bicycle, my convertible, and my desire to walk are. Everything is about balance. My wife and I are planning for our first wedding anniversary trip,… Continue reading June 26, 2023
